Monica Helland is an artist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Monica received a BFA in Graphic Design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2010, and has balanced her time as a graphic designer and printmaker ever since.
As a printmaker, Monica loves the intersection of folklore and visual design, and particularly enjoys capturing specific monsters and nightmare themes from folktales in her work. She is the co-director of North Star Printmakers Studio, located in the Casket Arts building, where she screen prints her designs for her creations. Monica is a member of the Conspiracy of Strange Girls, a collective of women-trans-femme+ artists that create and promote creative work by, for, and about Strange Girls. She is also a member of Minneapolis Craft Market, a community social hub and incubator for the arts.
Monica has participated in the 2018 No-Coast Craft-o-Rama, 2019 Craft’za, 2019 Stone Arch Bridge Festival, many other craft fairs in and outside Minneapolis. She has exhibited at the Unicorn Art Show, Gods and Monsters Show, the Cream of the Crop booth at the Minnesota State Fair and in the studio gallery during events at Casket Arts.
