Amy Simso Dean
Amy began stained glass on a whim in 2003. And she liked it.
She began bird watching in 1993 while visiting San Francisco with her mom. They realized they liked looking at birds as much as looking at the city…. and Amy’s been scanning the skies ever since.
When Amy started MYBirdClub*, she really wanted to give each birder a pocket field guide. And she really want to have some scholarships available.
Lightbulb! Combine my passions.
Amy is looking forward to welcoming new birders into MYBirdClub. And to having fun creating more Scrappy Birds and other stained glass items.
So that’s her story.
A note from Amy:
A portion of many sales goes to support causes I believe in.
Birds: 5% of every sale goes to buy pocket field guides for young birders.
So far I’ve been able to give young birders in MYBirdClub…
•59 pocket field guides (every kid gets one to keep)
•10 field bags (stocked with a notebook, field guide book and pencil)
Hats:$2 goes to support Planned Parenthood
Resist/Persist Panels: $2 goes to support the ACLU
In Spring 2015 I started a birding club for 4th & 5th graders at my daughters’ school: Minnesota Youth Bird Club.
We now run sessions on 2 different days in the fall, winter and spring. We’ve expanded into a middle school. And we’re hoping to grow even more. (So lots more field guides!)
